The 2nd Solothurn Night of Industry
34 companies from the Swiss canton of Solothurn provided visitors insights into their work at the second Solothurn Night of Industry on September 11. The event was organized by the Cantonal Chamber of Commerce and included 17 different tours, with buses shuttling visitors between the various companies. EWAG was a first-time presenter. Sales and Product Manager Beat Oderbolz, Product Manager Thomas Fischer and Director of Applications Engineer Jan Preisig welcomed 25 participants.
After a brief presentation in the demo room, they presented EWAG machines and three different stations of Etziken's operations: The employees explained the functionality of the WS 11 universal grinding machine to the visitors and pulled a sample from a laser machine producing microdrills with a diameter of less than 0.5 millimetres shortly before they were slated to go to assembly. Two visitors became very emotional when they saw WS 11. They had worked on this machine 40 years ago and were both surprised and pleased to learn that it is still being produced and used – albeit in a much more modern version than back then.
